In 2009, Magaly launched Swebapps, the first build-your-own-app platform. As a result she garnered the attention from the likes of Time magazine, Mashable, GigaOm, and Entrepreneur magazine to name a few. Since then, she’s helped local, national, and global brands find their footing in the mobile space. Most recently, Magaly showcased her innovation in supporting the creation of the site and system for San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro’s SA2020 Initiative. This Revolucionaria’s online voice recognizes that in union there is strength but as individuals we are powerless and for that reason her passion for making a difference reflects on issues like the modern Latino condition, which includes current leaders, politics, and marketing and public relations news. Cristy Clavijo-Kish and Katherine Doble founded LosTweens.com to create a space where Latino and multi-cultural parents could connect on the challenges of raising tweens, children ages 7-12, and teaching them about their culture. Today Los Tweens continues to expand on its mission to empower Latino and multicultural families with the information they need to be healthy and informed. While the site and its social media channels are only a year old, they are flourishing and growing at a pace far-exceeding all expectations.

Gina Linn’s lifetime work has been dedicated to finding meaningful, inspirational content, and significant role models among Latinos. It enables Black and Latino college students to intern at Silicon Valley start-ups, giving them the edge they need to place their mark on the future of the tech industry. At only 20 years old, Shalida Ann Dobbins has already been running her own fashion blog for three years. Julio Alberto is using social media to bring education straight to the Latino community.  By harnessing the power of YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, Julio Alberto gives math and physics  lessons in Spanish with online audiences who might not otherwise have access to these subjects. On YouTube, Julio has 100,000 subscribers and his lessons have 38 million views. Also, his social media presence includes 6,000 followers on Twitter and 18,000 “likes” on Facebook.

Felicia ‘Fe’ Montes is a Xicana Indigenous artist and activist from Los Angeles. By co-founding the women’s art collective Mujeres de Maiz, Fe has been able to use social media to share Xicana feminist art, which helped raise awareness about women’s social and spiritual change. Fe’s Xicana activism has led her to organize efforts alongside the Zapatistas, Peace & Dignity Journeys, and La Red Xicana Indigena.

As one of the most influential mujeres of our time, Eva Longoria takes being a positive role model to the next level.  Eva is the national spokesperson for PADRES Contra El Cancer, which is the only Latino program in the U.S. that focuses on addressing the needs of the entire family by helping them with educational, financial, and language resources. In addition, she has founded two philanthropic organizations: Eva’s Heroes, which helps developmentally disabled children and The Eva Longoria Foundation, which focuses on empowering Latinos to reach their full potential through education and entrepreneurship.
