2013 Nominee: Eric V. Ibarra
While a picture is worth a thousand words, Eric V. Ibarra’s impact on Latina youth is worth a thousand more. Eric turned his hobby, photography, into a tool to give young Latinas a voice. He founded Las Fotos Project in 2010 after seeing a need for teenage girls throughout Los Angeles to have a skill that could help build their confidence and self-esteem. Eric utilizes social media platforms to collaborate with other organizations and garner national support for the work he is doing, empowering Latina youth through photography mentorship, and self-expression.
