Winner 2012 - The New Americano Award
A celebrated satirist, talk show host, author, speaker, and nationally-syndicated cartoonist, Lalo Alcaraz (pocho.com) has been stirring the political consciousness on such issues as immigration reform and Latino stereotypes for more than 20 years. He and his work have been featured across the media, including in The New York Times, Al Jazeera TV, NPR, and ABC. There is no doubt he is a leading figure in the Chicano art movement. His satirical character “Daniel D. Portado” made him a household name in the call for coining “reverse immigration,” which has recently become an issue again with the current GOP Race. Lalo Alcaraz is the 2012 Revolucionario Awards Winner for the New Americano category.
